I remember the days
When you tortured me
My misery displayed for the world to see
I clung to your shirt
As you threw me away
When did our dance
Become a hideous phantasm

I screamed
While you listened
My pain your delight
My resistence but a futile exertion

And though your torment
Would never relent
Your arms were still
Ivory towers

At the Flying Saucer

Foam decorates my mustache. This is what beer
Leaves behind after it has committed itself to my
Yawning throat. There is a carbonated river
In my mouth, bubbles singing their story one
Needle-eye of air at a time. I have given the
Generous bartender all my money, so I may pass

Surreptitiously into heaven, even though tea-totaling
Angels laugh at my physique. I offer my tongue as
Unequivocal proof that hops and malted barley
Contain a secret I would whisper into your waiting
Ear if only you could taste words, if only you were
Right next to me, evaporating slowly like this flavor.

Ship Lost In Starlight
Angeliad of Surazeus
2010 04 27
http://open.salon.com/blog/surazeus/2010/04/27/ship_lost_in_starlight
http://stores.lulu.com/angeliad

Henrik in leather breeches and boots
stands on plank under hull of a carrack
repairing and nailing and planing smooth
and sealing with pitch from oak buckets
as wind sings in sails on a tall mast.

Deep voice of Captain Johanus Dracronus
rises up from dock in blue evening dusk
I obtained maps and account of his trip
when Ferdinandus Magellanus sailed far
circumnavigating our great round world.

I heard Ferdinandus was in spice islands
when he was betrayed by a local king
who tricked him to attack another king
who attacked and killed him on a beach
so he died far from garden of his home.

Henrik leans against an old oak tree
and gazes up at starlight twinkling gold
remembering beard and eyes of his father
as he taught him how to build a carrack
crafting wood to form light sturdy hull.

So this world where we live is round
like a ball he ponders holding an orange
so that explains how sun rises and sets
yet how do people on other side walk
without falling off to float among stars.

Dawn gleams on hull of his sailing ship
he designed and built with his hands
and flag snaps waving in a sea breeze
showing gold lion before tall castle tower
as he washes his face in bucket of water.

Kunigonde in long fluttering skirt runs
leaping into his arms kissing his lips
and they cuddle walking on ocean shore
then he picks up a smooth cream shell
whispering so pink like lips of your heart.

Gazing in her hazel eyes with gentle smile
Henrik sighs leaning head on her head
I love you and I want to explore our world
and see new people in many strange lands
but I promise to return to your loving arms.

Henrik grasps rope to haul on bowline
swinging yard for sail to catch brisk wind
so his carrack leaps gliding on high waves
soaring over wild sea toward distant land
where hidden treasures of wealth are hid.

Fierce winds toss their ship in high waves
when they sail through Straits of Magellan
then glide on vast shimmering blue sea
where dreams glitter lost in gold sunlight
that flickers in bright eyes of thirsty men.

Landing on lush shore of Yamdena Island
Henrik walks in forest to search for treasure
so when he reaches to pluck a tangerine
a beautiful woman with long black hair
and black eyes appears from forest shade.

Fantastic glow of light envelopes her face
as sweet voice enchants his hungry heart
and soft fingers caress flushed cheeks
so he drifts into golden dream of love
and whispers I must find key of your heart.

Henrik dances with Santi in gold sunlight
lost in dream of her eyes a thousand years
and she bears eight children of his seed
girls and boys with his curly brown hair
and her eyes black as a moonless night.

Kunigonde waits for Henrik to return
five years standing each dawn on dock
gazing out into shimmering silent waves
but at last she marries Ewould a layer
who builds a nice house with red brick.

Henrik sits on gold sand of Saumlaki beach
gazing at full moon shining gold at sunset
and sees face of Kunigonde in its mirror
as she looks up suckling a new-born child
then Roro young daughter sits by his side.

Caressing her hair as they gaze at moon
Henrik sings with Roro a sweet little tune
golden moon hiding shy behind clouds
come down and kiss me with your heart
for I love you and kiss you when you fade.

Roro giggles and snuggles in his arms
and falls asleep listening to sea waves
singing wordless song of ancient delight
grateful for this simple life in paradise
as his soul sails on lost ship in starlight.
