It’s the final week of the Read Write Poem NaPoWriMo Challenge! Just 7 days left. With that, a reminder that Read Write Poem will culminate with the anthology featuring work from those who complete the challenge. A post with details for submitting to the anthology will be published May 1. Be sure you remove any information from the site that you want preserved — such as group content and personal messages. Those elements of the site will be removed May 1 as well. The main site will remain up as an archive.

It surprises me that nobody in the community has decided to start a blog or something to try to fill the gap that Read Write Poem will leave in all our hearts and lives. It would be smaller scale than this, but it could be done – just prompts and points of interest, nothing special.

Damien, these new sites fill the gap.
Big Tent Poetry
We Write Poems
Writer’s Island
Out of the three, We Write Poems is built from scratch by members of the RWP community out of the desire you expressed and we all keenly felt.

That’s fantastic, Irene. I’m glad the rest of you had thoughts along the same lines! It’s just sad that the community is splintering. A lot of what I appreciated about RWP is the feedback as much as the prompts. I guess I’ll be paying visits to all three of those sites!

all three of the sites you mention are built by scratch by members of the RWP community in the spirit of community and support and fun. we’re very fortunate to have so many good projects. looking forward to watching WWP and WI develop along with our Big Tent.

Before the prompt was published I had decided today to try writing a Villanelle which I have never attempted. Although the first words spoken made me want to wait for what may come down the track…I gave it a go and used them
. Then I used the next words spoken to write a Tanka.
