Off Schedule

This morning, you are
the 7:10 bus.
You are just entering the neighborhood
and I am a block away from the pickup point.

She ran into flames,
literally–
barefoot on burning carpet
Rushed
with singular purpose
toward a single soul.
Bravery yes, but what caught
my breath was the force
made visible by the searing light,
