Did this week’s prompt spin you right round baby right round like a record player right round round round? Are you too young to identify that song quotation, which I may not even be quoting correctly? (If so, I don’t want to hear about it. Your youth, that is. I have my own issues wrinkles to deal with Botox.)
Let’s just get on with the getting on of the poems, shall we, before this post flies off its drive rims.
Please read this page to find out how the Get Your Poem On and Read Write Prompt posts work.
Remember that work linked from this post is shared in precisely that spirit: sharing, as opposed to critiquing.
If you haven’t done so already, please read all the pages under About in the navigation bar.![]()
If you participate in a Read Write Prompt, we ask that you link back here in your posts, either with a link to Read Write Poem or by using the Read Write Poem badge in your post. Sidebar links are great but it helps others find the site when you link in every post you contribute to the project. It’s not a lot to ask in acknowledgment of the work everyone is doing in providing prompts for members to use.
Dana Guthrie Martin is the founder of Read Write Poem. She writes things and stuff. Most of the time, her things and stuff happen to be poetry, or at least they call themselves poetry. She has a robot named Feldman. He’s writing a book of poems.

My poem for Prompt #98 this week is titled:
“APOSTROPHE“

Laughing Dove has been labeled an attack site by Google, so I’m posting at my other blog until I figure out what is going on. Who knew poetry was malicious? The internets are such a mystery to me.

Tamra–Last week when I tried to leave a comment on your blog, my computer told me “threat detected” and froze up several times before I could out-trick it and leave a comment. Today on your other blog, the same freezing is taking place. I apologize, but I can’t leave a comment today by getting past that same “threat detected” message.

The same experience is happening to me. Sorry, Tamra!
The clouds didn’t lift for long this week so I only wrote a short one: Lunacy
I enjoyed doing this:

My poem was a slight one, this week, which I didn’t write instead of my thesis.
“Portia” is an extreme make-over of my poem generated by last week’s prompt #97. I invite candid, stern critiques!

Living In The Eastern Woodlands. My poem is Shakespearian Sonnet: For the Roller Coaster Addict 2009
It was fun trying to write a sonnet. It’s my first attempt since high school, maybe 40 years ago. It wasn’t good then. At least I got the fit and some movement words this time. Enjoy!
glad to be participating in this prompt after being away for a week or two. great picture dana, enjoyed. my offering is Oktoberfest, hope you dig it!

I was fully grown when “You Spin Me Round Right Baby, etc etc etc was out… but this prompt took me down a surprising path… veering clear of the image… but withint the theme. Check it out to see what I mean….

My poem “Portia” is an extreme make-over of last week’s poem. Candid, stern critiques are as welcome as other comments.

Haven’t been posting much lately but was delighted to find this prompt tapping into something this week.

It isn’t quite what I wanted, since for some reason the prompt actually made me think of death for some strange reason. Maybe I’ll manage that yet, but this is come, see
We all have them: Childhood memories
Here is my response, tangential as it is. I was drawn to the garish lights and darkness, but ended up far afield with a poem about Halloween…All Hallows
Here is my reply…

Here’s mine: Carnival
PS. My generation may know that “You Spin Me Right ‘Round” line from a totally inferior pop song that recently ripped it off.
I went for the obvious title today, but I think it gains resonance in the course of the poem – A Fair.
Here is another one for you!
Best Wishes,
Delia

I didn’t write to the prompt mainly because it reminded me of a poem I wrote back in April, so I posted that one instead:
