Did you leave anything unsaid this week, or did you manage to say it all in your poem? I hope you were inspired by the poem I shared last week, written by a teenager, about her relationship with her mother. And whether you wrote about your mother, another family member, a spouse — or anything else for that matter — leave a link so the rest of the community can see what you’ve been working on.![]()
For the new folks: Please take a few moments to read our About pages. If you have any questions about the project after reading through those pages, email us at info (at) readwritepoem (dot) org.

Hey everyone,
I am out of town until Friday, so I am sneaking my poem link into the comments section now, before I go. I can do that because I help manage the site. Tee hee.
I can’t wait to read everyone’s work when I get back into town.
Poem on!
Here’s my contribution this week:
Where Does Your Mother Live?
I changed the prompt, just a little: What I’ll Never Tell You
Mine has not turned out the way I wished it to be:
stuff I never told you
This prompt stirred some memories…
My Grandfather’s Eyes

I’m in Salt Lake City on a conference, so I may take a while to read everyone’s poem, but here’s mine:
Lines written in my 50th year
You’ll find mine in this post:

Couldn’t quite write to prompt, but did pen: Talking to the past is as good as reading fiction
yeah! first prompt in my new blog!
I’m slowly moving from ‘the space between words’ to
‘woman, ask the question’–and I can’t tell my mom, well, anything!!

hey angie … nice blog, quite beautiful in fact, but can’t comment, boo hoo.
Deb
could someone please tell or show me how to put the badge on my blog…..also how to put my url in red under my name to link to my blog…thank ya
Wayne, when you copy and paste the code for the badge, try replacing all the quotation marks — sometimes those come in as the wrong type and make the code break. Simply deleting each one and replacing it in your sidebar should work.
We don’t offer support for other blog functions, such as changing your hyperlink colors, but you should be able to find information like that in online forums or if you google a phrase such as “change hyperlink color blogger.”
Thanks Dana…ill see what I can do
thanks so much, Deb!
I checked the settings–hopefully my comments work now!!
(it may take me months…and months.)
I was not what you had in mind
for your life
I was expensive to run
I was a disappointment
I took everything
I gave nothing
And now
when I look in the mirror
You stare back at me
So I’ll never forget
Here’s mine. I’ll pop back in later to read everybody else’s!

I’ve just read through all of your poems–what wonderful work! I’ve enjoyed each and everyone one of them. It’s inspired me to buckle down and get mine in this weekend!
