So how did you work with Holly’s prompt this week, where she encouraged us to reveal the many layers of ourselves, and work with others’ words in the process.
We look forward to reading what you came up with.
And, if you feel up to it, let us know how it went with a few (or more) words in the comments along with the link to your work. And, if you responded to Read Write Image #2, feel free to leave a link here for that response as well. Or any other poem you wrote. We’re all about layers.
Please, link back here in your posts, either with a hyperlink to Read Write Poem or by using the badge in your post. Sidebar links are great but it helps our “internet health” when you link in every post you contribute to the project. And please add “Read Write Poem” in your tags, if you don’t mind.![]()
For the new folks: Please take a few moments to read the About pages, including our Copyrights page. If you have any questions about the project after reading through those pages, email us at info (at) readwritepoem (dot) org.

Poems of the Heart
Oy, I didn’t exactly follow the Onion prompt to the T, but I took the metaphor and ran away with thoughts of paper (since I’m such a paper lover). You know how the outside skin of onions are really dry like paper? Yeah, that’s what I focused on.
Please enjoy nonetheless!

Here is mine. I used stanzas from Dana, Christine and Dave. http://disorder1313.wordpress.com

This Heart Is Yours
I did find this one difficult. It’s hard to find a good balance between unity (one voice) and onion metaphor (different voices). Not to mention I also felt quite timid when it came to reworking material written by someone else. Anyone else experiencing the same?

Little Birds
I didn’t collaborate, but I have something for the written prompt and for the picture prompt.
Slices of Life
This prompt gave me a challenge, but I enjoyed the challenge. Here’s my offering:

I didn’t write to prompt this week (I really, really liked the prompt *idea* though) but here is this one:

Freudian peels
(I wasn’t able to collaborate last weekend, but I made the “pattern poem” above.)
Thanks, Holly, for prompting us to write together, *smile*
And thanks to all you poets for some great lines. This poem wrote itself!
In Your Eyes My Own Reflection
This was fun. Here’s my Frankenpoem:

This is for the image prompt: Ruby in a Cage
[...] This poem is woven together from lines all by other poets. Holly of Lost Kite put together a collaborative prompt over at read write poem. Poets left lines about layers of themselves, and I stole (well, it was allowed) some of them to put this together. I changed line breaks and added one word and changed one other and made up a title. Find more of the same here. [...]
I didn’t get to the prompt in time to post lines, but I really enjoyed working with all the wonderful lines. Great prompt, Holly.
the fall of 1,000 things
@Annette (#6): I feel somewhat timid myself! I really like and enjoy collaborations, but sometimes I don’t know how to work with stanzas written by someone else. Sometimes, it all depends on my writing moods.
Here’s one. I’m planning to use everyone’s work in a poem somehow. I have others in the works.
office romance
The other poems I made from y’all’s work-I had fun with everyone’s work. Thank you for sharing!
