Here's the blog link:

Allen Ginsberg was the gateway poet when I was in high school. He also introduced me to a whole new Walt Whitman. My first year of college I loved Tzara, Rimbaud and Baudelaire (all in translation). Those were days of wild discovery.

I am posting a link about a book written by a Blooger poet. After reading the review, do check out his blog. His short verses touch the soul.

Mary Oliver - I don't even know how I found her, but as soon as I did she spoke to my soul.

Chase Twichell - the inspiration for my online persona

Sharon Olds - Someone told me to read her, and I do what I'm told (most of the time)

Joy Harjo/Lee Young Li - from Moyer's book "Fooling With Words"

Neruda's "The Captain's Verses" - because of the Alan Rickman in "Truly Madly Deeply" (reciting "The Dead Woman")

ooh...Lirone hit it with the Hopkins.... for me, William Carlos Williams and Robyn Sarah are huge hits, and always have been. Gary Geddes, Ogden Nash...Micheal Ondaatje...I have far too many, but I enjoyed poetry despite school. :)

Dylan Thomas and Gerald Manley Hopkins were two early favourites well before I left school.

A big moment after leaving school was buying Bloodaxe's excellent anthology 60 Women poets - and discovering Carol Ann Duffy, Moniza Alvi and many, many more!
