get your poem on #9
Published by Read Write Poem January 14th, 2008 in Deb, Get Your Poem On.
It’s post time at Read Write Poem, this week about traveling companions.
Or maybe you wrote about something else entirely. We care less about what got you started than reading what you wrote. Actually, we do like to hear what got you started. We like all things poetry-related, and then some.
So link on! And enjoy another week of original poetry by the companions on your word-trip. Check back through the week as folks add links and look for a new column Thursday.

Here’s mine. A great prompt, deb. I actually wrote two poems, I liked it so much, but I’m only posting one.

Hi everyone!
Nothing’s too late this week. Comments don’t close until next Sunday, so come back and post and read and read and post.
I know it takes me several days to get to everyone (and last week, with everything so new to me, I didn’t get to all the places I wanted to!)
So post and read at your leisure. The light’s on all night long.
Lynn, Glad you found us. Come back anytime, with your poem(s) on…
here is my first posting for ReadWritePoem

I wrote this before I read the prompt. Surprise, surprise, it fits! I am working on another “traveling” poem, inspired by a slap dash trip across the state to a hospital–oddly enough, occuring last Saturday when I thought I needed a travel poem. But, it’s in progress…
Head West
I’ve posted a response to comments on I Have This To Say About That here: Politics & Poetics
I hope I don’t sound defensive; I’m actually interested and excited to see such interest in something I’ve done. I’ve rarely given one of my own poems this kind of attention; my poems rarely get this (particular) kind of attention from others.
I am sharing some notes from a “Journey” here…

Here’s a travel poem by a 12th grader. I’ve thought it could be read at every high school graduation and improve the quality considerably.

Here’s mine for the week~
Travellers
I’m stuck with long, long hours at work this week, but I didn’t want to miss this prompt - this has been rattling around in the back of my brain for days now…
http://havingwrit.blogspot.com/2008/01/traveling-companions.html
Okay, I’m experincing a bit of prompt burnout or maybe I really should say that sometimes I simply need to sit with a prompt a bit before I write.
Anywhoo, here’s a something else. All feedback welcome.
